NEXT TUESDAY 11/25 Virtual Community Meeting : Avenue Trade School

Dear Friends and Community Members,

We have big news from the Industry Horror and Autism Works Print Shop family!❤️

We are in the proposal stage to acquire the Avenue Elementary School campus on Ventura Avenue, from the Ventura Unified School District for our future Avenue Trade School and we would love your input. This project imagines a dedicated trade school and community hub for autistic and neurodivergent adults, with hands-on training, job pathways, and community spaces that serve the Westside and greater Ventura community.🏫📚

To help shape this vision, we are hosting an online community meeting next week and inviting everyone to complete a short survey.🗣️

Avenue Trade School Community Meeting

Date: Tuesday, November 25, 2025

Time: 6:00 to 7:00 PM

Where: Online via Zoom

At the meeting we will share more about the Avenue Trade School concept, talk about possible trades and programs, and ask for your ideas about what would best support autistic and neurodivergent adults and the wider community at this site.🙏🏻

Please also take our community survey!

Whether or not you can attend the meeting, the survey is one of the most important ways you can participate.

It should only take about 10 minutes and asks about your connection to the neurodivergent community, what types of trades and supports you would like to see at the school, what amenities are most needed on the Westside, and your overall support and ideas for the project.

Who we hope to hear from 🥰

• Autistic and neurodivergent adults and youth

• Parents, guardians, and caregivers

• Educators, service providers, and agency staff

• Westside residents and Ventura neighbors

• Employers and tradespeople interested in training or hiring neurodivergent workers

How you can help right now

  1. Register for the Zoom community meeting on Tuesday, November 25, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.

  2. Fill out the community survey at https://forms.gle/6tv4nJbtpoRaw4RF8.

  3. Forward this email to anyone who cares about autism, disability justice, workforce training, or the future of the Westside.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Your ideas and lived experience are essential as we work to create a trade school campus built with and for the neurodivergent community.🙌🏻

With gratitude,

Ryan and Davina DeCant
